New dimensions for oncology studies through digital solutions

State-of-the-art technologies enable clinical research projects in oncology to become more patient-centered through digital approaches, leading to a sustainable improvement in the quality of life for cancer patients.

Let's create an impact. Together.

The future of oncology research

By using state-of-the-art technologies such as patient-centered apps, ePRO/eCOA, wearables or telemedicine, we offer you the perfect combination of comprehensive services and innovative technical solutions as a full-service CRO.

Digitizing Clinical Trials for Oncology

The shift to decentralized and hybrid trial designs enables improved collection, analysis and management of data. This leads to an improved patient experience by using wearables and patient apps.

Patient Preference

Between 70% - 80% of patients show interest in app-based supportive care during radiotherapy

Increased Activity

Objective & more accurate assessments of e.g. daily steps show a correlation between physical activity and symptom severity

Symptom Tracking

ePRO-based symptom monitoring improves QoL as well as OS and reduces emergency hospitalization.

Acceptance for Apps

Over 80% of health care providers consider app-based reporting to be beneficial.

Sleep Quality

Fitnesstrackers promote physical activity and have proven to improve sleep quality for oncological patients

Medication Adherence

Weekly questionnaire on just six clinical parameters makes it possible to detect a relapse at an early stage, on average six weeks earlier.

Telemedicine

Improvement of OS and QoL through web-based monitoring and self-scored symptoms with clinician follow ups.

Increased self-efficacy

App interventions lead to improved QoL and have proven to alleviate depression & anxiety

HANSE Study - Digitalization enables decentralization

Alcedis has conducted a lighthouse lung cancer study where >400,000 potential subjects have been approached, >13,000 patients were screened, and 5,191 patients were recruited in 15 months. Subject data, CT scan evaluation and risk scoring were AI-supported. The recruitment campaign was also supported by Social media, Google Ads, personalized mailings and a strong media presence (newspapers, TV).

Streamlined Patient Journey

Online self-registration with a primary self-assessment for eligibility screening, appointment self-booking of low dose CTs in a mobile CT truck.

Recruitment Success

Recruitment was driven by a high level of public visibility and digital accessibility. Over 60% of participants self-registered online, despite the age of the target group (55-79 years old).

Pioneering Approach

National lung cancer screening program: HANSE study results initiated and supported a national governmental screening program that may already start in 2024.

Trust in our Experience

  • We combine thought leadership with operational excellence focused on scientific results rather than box-ticking.
  • Bringing a high level of academic engagement to deliver the full suite of trial-related services, unlike any traditional contract model.
